Playback - "Space Invaders".
The group were Australian production duo Bruce Dunlop & Russell Brown.
They originally released the track under the moniker of Player One in Australia but had to change the name to Playback when released overseas as someone already had the name of Player One registered.
The track enjoyed minimal success in discos all over the world but this was their only hit.

This was a horrible cut!! I never played it. I had two copies. I think they are part of my Table now!!

Yes. A horrible track Pete but it got pushed so much on the radio here it was a No.1 hit! for about 3 weeks. 
Had to play it in the more commercial clubs. 
Thank goodness they stopped at that one. 
Only ever released on 7" in Australia. 12" was released by Ariola records Germany.

When you listen tracks like ''Space Invanders'' you start wondering about if ''Funkytown'' was a disco masterpiece!!!
PETE'S NOTE:: You mean that FUNKYTOWN was "NOT" a masterpiece? I think it is!! I certainly would have loved to be responsible for it!! MUCHO$$$$$$$$$

Pete, I liked Funkytown,as I liked All Night Dancing,Rock It and How Long!
If you like Moroder stuff,you like Lipps too.I am telling that there was a period about 1979-1980 that everybody was makin' Disco tracks and there was many trash songs.
My opinion about Funkytown is that was overplayed in the radio because it was number 1 for 4 weeks at national pop billboard chart,so many people feel bored when they listen it now!

Bored with it. Of course they are. They have to be. This song was played by everyone and their aunt. So I understand everyone's repulsion. It just never affected me that way. I am glad. It would suck hating one of the eras most recognizable songs. The only song I really hate from the disco era, is that song I never played. Even when on a private party for Ed Martin, if this song was going to get played, he played it, I went to the bathroom, or for a Fatty. I refused to be in the same room when it was on. Of course you all know by now what I am referring to. And, again I say, if I ever see Rick Dees walking down the street, I will kick his ass!

I look at it this way FUNKYTOWN vs DISCO DUCK(PETE'S NOTE::You really are an asshole). FUNKYTOWN is ten thousand times better!
