Hi there,
Would be interested in knowing who you think was the greatest voice of DISCO?
I really can't choose myself, there are sooo many great ones but, I think I've got a special love for <A HREF="http://www.disco-disco.com/artists/jocelyn.html">Jocelyn Brown</A> and <A HREF="http://www.disco-disco.com/artists/loleatta.html">Loleatta Holloway</A>.
But again you have ladies like <A HREF="http://www.disco-disco.com/artists/gloria.html">Gloria Gaynor</A> and males like Luther Vandross for example...
They're all wonderful acts and voices !
So... What do YOU think ???

Hi all, my first post, so i've done a bit of research so i don't sound like a total disco-newb (which i am really)
For the ladies Jocelyn has it like no other for me, sheer power!
Teena Marie and Sharon Redd have to get a mention too.
Why don't people sing like this anymore!
And for the guys (and this where the research come's in) Jeffery Osborn from L.T.D. I'm particularly grooving on You Fooled Me at the mo. Great voice in my opinion, i have him up there with Luther, probably the greatest, and Teddy Pendergrass, who's voice commands you to listen.
So that's the opinion of a disco-newb, thanks for reading

Eddie Levert from the O'jays. I loved his voice on "Back stabbers". It always reminded me of David Ruffins' (From the Temptations).
The whole Back Stabbers Album has a lot of great disco tracks including: "992 arguments" and "Love Train".

Now i Know everybody out there would agree that the vocal talents of Jocelyn, Loletta,Harold,Teddy,Curtis,Donna,Gloria,Teena and Thelma would all be in the same bracket of "The Greatest Disco Vocalists"but you could also throw into the mix the great powerfull vocals of Edwin Starr or what about the velvet tones of "Dancin' in the City" by Marshall Hain. Also i think the vocals of Jackie Moore on "This Time Baby" are quite sublime!, but if i had to narrow it down to just one person....well!...i would have to agree with the rest of the disco world that it would take alot to beat the power and the beauty of Miss Jocelyn Brown.Had the privalage to see her perform in Newcastle (UK) last year and her rendition of "I'm Caught Up
(In A One Night Love Affair) nearly reduced me to tears because i was so happy in the moment of it all.

Hi All,
Always interesting to hear all of your "greatest voices". You all keep reminding me of people you sometimes tend to forget ! Thanks for that !
So keep your suggestions coming and I'm happy to see Jocelyn is a favorite for most of us !

Mmmmm....
Yes - LOTS of GREAT and WONDERFUL voices listed here above...
Let's all step back in time and bring them to today and have them do some real singing on some of todays stuff (and not only get sampled all the time)...

Discostu always had a soft spot for the great falsetto of Russel Thompkins Jr. and the songs of The Stylistics. The quality of their work suffered and they sort of disappeared after Thom Bell moved on from producing.
