Why did Disconet release edits of so many marginal records instead of the hits?

When Disconet first started in 1977 it was intended to showcase "new" material of a "non-commercial" nature I believe.
The tracks were mostly unreleased titles ( in the US) or current club tracks that Disconet djs thought needed a "re-working" for the dancefloor.
In later years (from around 82 ) they did become more commercial in their releases.
Hope this helps.

Back in the day, DISCONET was a fantastic service, and usually there was at least one playable track every time I got product from them. Was this a commercial hit, not always, but I remember playing THE GRAND TOUR many times, it was not a hit, but in DISCOS it rocked. Then the OLDIES medley by Bill Motley was exceptional, it featured Roy Orbison's PRETTY WOMAN. It really didn't matter at the beginning, we always looked forward to this month's DISCONET, like a kid receiving candy!

What are DISCONETS selling for these days? An unopened copy of ANY of them is worth money? Isn't it? More then the $5 bucks they cost back in the 70's. Am I correct?
