BORDERLINE - Boring!
DONT YOU WANT ME - Overplayed and overated!
SITUATION - Dynamic vocals from Aylison Moyet and and great synth/pop sound from Vince Clarke (Ex -Depeche Mode). Yazoo went on to have a short lived career in the early 80's but they left behind some memorable tunes......SITUATION...wins hands down!
note: In the Uk the duo were known as YAZOO and not YAZ as in the good ole US of A...

We called them Yazoo here too. After they got known (after "DON'T GO" charted) a small Texas country/hillbilly band also named Yazoo started rumbling to Warner Bros/Sire/Mute Records that they were gonna sue for swiping the name. I really don't think that Moyet & Clarke had an idea they existed. Hence the name Yaz-----My "SITUATION" US promo has Yazoo on it.

A twist to PICK ONE today!!-- You are playing Donna Summer's MacArthur Park, now it is time to mix out. I know you can go in a thousand directions. But for this thread, I will give you but three options, PICK ONE!!
1) LOVIN IS REALLY MY GAME- Brainstorm
2) IF MY FRIENDS COULD SEE ME NOW-Linda Clifford
3) TO THE BEAT OF THE NIGHT- Fever
This should be interesting to see your responses. I will tell you that one of these was a favorite of Jimmy Burgess. And he did this mix a few times in his life!

This is a curve ball, I like it! So which song did Jimmy Burgess mix next? My guess, he mixed LINDA CLIFFORD, "If My Friends Could See Me Now". That is my pick as well. I don't think I ever heard the other two??
PETE'S NOTE:: YES YOU HAVE!! And that is a great pick.

I would bet that Jimmy Burgess mixed all these songs at one time or another with MacArthur Park. I too would pick the Linda Clifford song, "If my friends could see me now". That was a natural to follow Donna. This is a very cool thread. My favorite on this site. Keep it up Pete, I like it!

Ok now you messin with us.
Fever would probably be the best mix <<mixing>> for Donna; beat for beat. Great mix - boring atmosphere.
But I ain't built like that. You can make a great argument for Linda's "....Can See Me Now", also.
I would slam Brainstorm right in--and keep the groove goin up !!!!! "LOVIN' IS REALLY MY GAME" 12"
PETE'S NOTE:: BTW, Jimmy Burgess went with FEVER>
And I have mixed all of the above. But would most likely, of those three, go with LOVIN IS REALLY MY GAME

What can I say....
My man Jay and I have the exact same taste and I would go for Brainstorm as well... (not only for the "Discoguy - you'll be sorry if you pass me by" in the lyric).
Disco-on !

I'm with Jay.
I would normally slow down after Macarthur Park with "Fever" but if I have to pick the track I 'd love to play out of those 3 it would have to be "Lovin' Is Really My Game".
Gotta love those lyrics. "you'll be sorry if you pass me by".
What? Is she in a wheelchair? Get up outta that seat & go grab a guy!

The best mix would be Linda Clifford and "If My Friends could see me now". Same style, same flow, both great vocalists, Two very strong songs. There should be no doubt, but all you great deejays out there don't see the obvious!! LOL-- I heard Jimmy Burgess do that mix with FEVER, and it wasn't very good! I heard Pete do Linda Clifford, and it rocked. Me, I usually followed it with another Donna song, and that went perfect!

My dear, ELPATO believes that IF MY FRIENDS COULD SEE ME NOW is the logical choice. PATOS love Linda, and we used to love Donna. until she found Jesus, and told her PATOS are no good! **CK THEM ALL.

Got to agree with Jimmy Burgess on this one. FEVER!! if it was good enough for him, it is good enough for me!!
