Hi Disco-disco people,

It's been a while since my last post so I have a question for you guys to re-introduce myself:

I listen to a lot of re-edits of disco/funk tracks. It really is a brand new market for vinyls producers. Small labels grow everywhere like mushrooms.

I do think it is a good thing. For the vinyl market, for producers, for vinyl shops etc ..

But I found out that the more the re-editing thing is going on the more djs tend to lose the core of the track by re-editing.

Let me be clear, I am not against re-editing at all (I do re-edit myself), but I think that the re-editing process shouldn't kill the track being re-edited.

So what do you think ?

Greetings from France

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Good, relevant and interesting question...
I do like many re-edits, but I prefer when they are true to the original song and not completely remixed or with lots of added components which were not on the original...

Thanks Discoguy for answering

I do agree with you btw.

I'm kind of sad that this debate does not interest people very much.

Anyway, in order to fuel the debate let me post as an example what is to me a good reedit :

Now what do you think ?

It's like you said meat-eating process shouldn't kill the animal being eaten.

Only originals are what counts for me. 8)
