Glad all are enoying, makes me happy that I can contribute. Here is another out of my 45 collection. I was not able to find the 45 version so here is the LP version. This LP came out in 1974, but the 45 was released in 1973. When I bought it, it was 50 cents.
"Boogie Down" Eddie Kendricks Tamla/Motown

Pooch...

You got me thinking!
I know you started spinning around 73''
So were you happier when you were spinning in the early days or did you feel happier spinning in the mid 70's to the early 80's...Or put it another way...when in your career, did you feel you were at your peak and also did you prefer the music from say 70-76 or from 76-83..... Thanks!

Very difficult question you ask my friend.
answer part one:Peak, I would say that would be from late 1978 thru 1984. Those were the greatest years of recognition DJ wise.
answer part two:Music, WellI have to go half and half here. I loved all the music form pre 76, it seemed to be just for us, it was soulful, joyus, and loving, sometimes I felt that those songs were made just for me! (I know silly) But back then, I worked my ass off!! I bought two of every 45 that came out, so I could make my own version, just think, back then, the drummer was real, it was harder to blend songs because the beat never actually stayed the same. Also, in an hours time, I would play 20 songs. NOT to blow my horn but, this took talent!!!!
Now 76 onward, the advent of the 12inch, changed the way music was now played. Now we had a 6-8 minute songs. Cool, but now the music seemed to change a bit, there seemed to be a lack of that "soulful joy" that I felt from earlier music. Don't get me wrong, I loved a lot of songs from that point on, but only a few, were made for me. Understand that point?
And now, anybody could be a DJ, just slam on the 12 inch and you are a jock!!
I hope I answered without babbling on. But, I must note to you that my love of music has declined as far as today goes. Give me the old music anyday.

Thanks for the insight there Pooch, very interesting!
Check back in later my friend and I will hit you with some more question's if you don't mind!.....Just for the record!....my love of music started with everything pre 76' than It moved to everthing after 76' for about 15 years and now in the last few years, I have come full circle and I am right back into everthing from pre 76'. This site has enabled me to discover loads of pre 76' music that I had missed previously. That is down to the likes of your goodself and Jay Negron...for that I am grateful!
