Harlem River Drive - Need You (Arista AS 0142) It was a one-off 7" single released on Arista records in 1975. I haven't found it on any comps so far. The 45 pops up on eBay from time to time though. Prices range anywhere from $10-$30 USD

I first heard this single a couple of years ago and it has become one of my favourite finds of recent years. Its a gem of the early disco sound and my only regret is that it is so short. I love the prominence of the percussion in the mix. My copy cost around £6. Harlem River Drive released an LP around 71-72 but that is salsa-jazz fusion. I have been unable to find out anything on the web about this single so all I know is whats on the label. Information on Stan Vincent who wrote and produced is scarce as well. The B side has much more of a bluesy feel You can listen to it on YouTube
If anyone reads this and knows anything about the recording, please reply as I would love to know about the musicians, writers, producers etc. Thanks

Ive found out some more about this fantastic single. This interview with Marcus Miller discusses the tune http://www.smartalecmusic.com/inner-vie ... MILLER.htmD. Miller (Denzil) is shown as arranger on the label of 'Need You' and Omar Hakim appears to be the drummer. No mention of the involvement of Stan Vincent though or who plays percussion. I guess this was a one off single. Perhaps Stan Vincent hired the musicians for the session to record his composition. It looks like there is no connection with the Harlem River Drive lp from a few years earlier
