LIST YOURS.

It doesn't have to be a disco period track, but nothing after 1985 because by then the references are a dime a dozen. :?

Just ones you played or heard in a club that have reference to drug use, be it positive or negative/upfront or disguised.

Here's a few to kick us off.

La Bionda - "One For You, One For Me".

What the hell are they talking about? Another Line/Joint/Pill/Roll in the hay? :roll:

Invisible Mans Band - "All Night Thing"- Check the drug reference to cocaine (both in the lyrics & "snifs") @ around 2:08. I'm not sure....it could be the drugs. :shock:

Sandy Marton - "White Storm In The Jungle". Speaks for itself doesn't it. :wink:

Master Boogies Song & Dance - "When The Shit Hits The Fan". Apparently when it does, people blow other people out with joints they have rolled & everyone dances.

Curtis Mayfield -"Pusherman".

Laid Back - "White Horse".

Huey Lewis & The News - "I want a New Drug" is not an acceptable reply. :lol:

Paul, as a cocaine sniffing hoover vacum, a guy who only smokes cigarettes because marijuana is still illegal. This is too easy. I could list like 20 songs, off the top of my head. But I will leave many for others. I will give you;

From BLONDIE, Debbie Harry and the SCARFACE soundtrack.
RUSH RUSH(Give Me YeYo) -Yeyo a Spanish slang word for cocaine!

I think it was GRANDMASTER FLASH who gave us;
WHITE LINES- The song was all about cocaine

From the SUPERFLY soundtrack, one of CURTIS MAYFIELD'S biggest hits;
FREDDIE'S DEAD- About the death of Freddie the drug dealer!

I can go on, but there are others in this Forum who could answer, so those will suffice!---- THEN I GOT HIGH!!! Funny song!

Musn't forget "Smoke Your Troubles Away" by Glass Family - well, this catchy midtempo song from 1976 if I remember right does not exactly present any veiled references to anything, it's a "Just Say Yes" kind of a tune. Chrisland's "Angela Angel", a German 12 minute album track, is not so direct and more cautionary. Over a very nicely orchestrated c 136 bpm backing there's a male voice describing how Angela fell into her own dark, secret world, pleasures that lead into "days of corruption, destruction of her soul" and how "it must have been the devil who put those scars on her arms". The singer acts as if he has no idea "why suddenly it went wrong", despite admitting he "loved her in many ways, when Angela was still a child, when innocence was still in her eyes". Huh?! A child? No wonder the poor girl went off the rails getting molested by some slob, for heaven's sake. Near the end she makes her appearance, crying "help me...!". - I never heard this thing on the radio but it did make an appearance in the lower reaches of the Billboard disco charts at one point, so it must have gotten at least some spins in clubs. Could have been odd merrily dancing to it, suddenly paying attention to the morbid lyrics. Not that in Europe many people really understood much of the time what was sung thru the speakers, unless it was something like " Love me...aaahh, ooohh, do it to me".

In the mid-70's, a New York City group produced by Tony Valor called SATIN SOUL, released a minor hit song called "Stoned Out Of My Mind" on his label. Remember that one? Excellent disco song. I loved it.

Wow!

You should all be ashamed of yourselves!

Either you know your music or not!

How in the blue hell have all you walking wrinkles forgotten about one of the most important soul/funk singers of our time?

Wanna talk about someone who sang about drugs?

Look no further than to Gil Scott Heron!

Hey,I dont blame you fossils, time does take the memory away!

:D

That would be one Pete. :)

Another was called "Home Is Where The Hatred Is" ........about heroin addiction.

Here's a line from the song..............."HOME IS WHERE THE NEEDLE MARKS, TRY TO HEAL MY BROKEN HEART".................

Esther Phillips did a wicked version of this track as well. :twisted:
