hi gang.
thought i would throw this into the melting pot.
if you had a choice what would it be ,and why ?
PHILLY or MOTOWN.
two of,if not the best labels out there.
the artists,styles of music,creativity,lyrics,arrangements,dance styles.
what did it for you.

Isn't that the same thing, more or less! Green label vs Blue label. I love Motown best!

What are you doing here?...This is an impossible task!

The debate would never end my friend!
PETE'S NOTE:: With LIPS like hers, ANGELINA Jolie, HANDS DOWN!! Anyhow, Pam is such a slut. Is that Bad??

That's like asking who did you love better? Wife #1 or Wife #2. They were both good. So I'm gonna have to break it down.
Motown had more pop hits; also more #1s. Philly was more exciting at the time. So was Motown at their time.
Philly had the best band-->MFSB. Motown had their studio band-->THE FUNK BROS.
Each label took chances.
Philly had their stable of producers, writers, music makers that went on to make more great music after they left.
Motown had their stable of producers, writers, & music makers that went on to be superstars of the next generation.
THAT'S IT!!!! THAT'S WHAT MAYBE SEPERATES THEM!!!
The Motown alumni are more far reaching, more great music making, than their counterparts at The Philly Sound.
Motown Alumni include: Ashford & Simpson, Michael Jackson, Johnny Bristol, Dennis Edwards, Lamont Dozier, General Johnson, Freddie Perren, The late Norman Whitfield, ---all these people made an impact in Disco, AFTER they left Motown. Not to mention the artists still there: Stevie, Smokey, Diana--they have been still putting out music thru the years that just ADD ON to their Hall Of Fame output.
Now I love The Philly Sound, believe me I do, but The Philly Sound was just a different piece of the puzzle; so was STAX, so was TK Disco, the NY Media Sound, The Chicago Sound of Brunswick/Dakar Records.
Motown was the grandaddy of them all (to me).
See what you started Darren?????? lol
