WHAT WOULD DISCO MUSIC BE WITHOUT THE EXPECTED BREAK IN THE SONG THAT WOULD ADD PURE FIRE ON THE DANCE FLOOR.

MANY TRACKS COME TO MIND.

BREAKS IN THE SONG WERE EITHER INSTRUMENTAL IN NATURE AS IN "MY LOVE IS FREE" BY DOUBLE EXPOSURE OR PERCUSSIVE IN NATURE AS IN "I HAVENT STOPPED DANCING YET" BY GONZALEZ.

INSTRUMENTAL BREAKS WERE ALSO LENDING TO BE MORE OF A RADIO ELEMENT, A JAZZIER ELEMENT, WHILE THE PERCUSSIVE BREAK MORE OF THE DANCE FLOOR ENERGIZER.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE INSTRUMENTAL BREAK IN A SONG?
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PERCUSSIVE DRUM BRAKE IN A SONG?

*(SPECIAL THANKS TO "SOUL-BOY" FOR CORRECTING THIS POST WITH THE CORRECT ARTIST FOR "I HAVENT STOPPED DANCING YET")

I don't wish to be rude Pinky but don't you mean;

"I HAVENT STOPPED DANCING YET" - GONZALEZ

..Anyway..one of my favourite percussion breaks is in..

Edwin Starr -"Contact" (12")

Will get back to you on the instrumental break...

Happy New year Pinky. :)

First thing that popped into my head was Katmandu - "The Break". It has both the breaks & musical interludes you speak of.

T-Connection -"At Midnight"/"Do What you Wanna Do"
Gloria Gaynor - "Never Can Say Goodbye" (instrumentals excerpts)
Sparks - "Beat The Clock"
Boney M. - "Night Flight To Venus"
Giorgio Moroder - "Chase"
D-Train - "Keep On"
Konk - "Your Life"
Peter Brown - "Do Ya Wanna Get Funky with Me"

The percussion break in T-Connection's "Do What You Wanna Do"
is very hard to forget.

Musical breaks can be addictive and give much momentum to the song:
"You Got Me Running" by Lenny Williams has a very arresting musical break.

One of the most powerful breaks was on:
"Give It Up Turn It Loose/Sex Machine" by James Brown.
Who can resist: "Clap your hands, stomp your feet" ?

Some large percussion breaks were in the beginning of the song:
"My Sweet Summer Suite" by Barry's Love Unlimited Orch.
and
"At Midnight" by T-Connection (there they go again)

Some very large orchestras would break everything down to just a handclap break:
Love & Kisses: "I Found Love"
Santa Esmerelda: "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood"

And who can forget Kurtis Blow?
'these are the breaaaks, break it up, break it up, break it uuuuup!'

How about,

KEEP ON DANCIN'- Gary's Gang
DISCO NIGHTS- GQ
SHINE ON SILVER MOON-Marilynn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr.
HOT SHOT- Karen Young
NOW THAT WE FOUND LOVE- Third World

There are tons more. I could go to the 133+ beats per minute songs, and we would be here all day.

Evita LP on RSO Records
France Joli - Don't Let Go

Pinky, holler back @ me when you get a chance!

A pleasant surprise! Thanks so much for the compliment also reaching out to me. As for myself, I've Mix Shows aired on various outlets worldwide. This includes, "THE BK BASEMENT with Delmar Browne on PRESSURE RADIO". A Mix Show "Live From Brooklyn, NY" where the genre House Music and Classics of many unite. It airs Sundays 11PM-1AM ET Monday, 10PM-12AM CT, 8PM-10PM PT and Mondays 4AM-6AM in the UK
Pete Denis has tuned into the program and the chatroom is the place to be!
Gene Leone also tuned into the program, Bobby Cutchins and other notable personalities.

Let's touch base behind the scenes and on this forum.

Great to hear from you, bro!

DB
