Barry Lederer
R.I.P.

It's with great sadness I'm reached by the information that my friend Barry has passed away by natural causes in his Manhattan apartement.
Barry was just over 60 years old and he had lots of plans and so much more to give.
We started out e-mailing before we started speaking over the phone ever so often and he shared so many of his memories with me. He was always exciting and had lots to tell, and he knew just about everyone worth knowing in the world of Disco.
I even visited Barry in his apartment the last time I was in New York.
I will really miss our chat's...

One of our Disco National Treasures left us. Barry was my personal friend. He and I stayed up til the early morning talking on the phone, or emailing back and forth most of the last six months. He never told me or let on that he was ill. To this day, I know not his cause of death. Can anyone answer that for me???

This is sad, I used to read and rely on his word in the billboard magazine.

I knew Barry quite well. I first met him in 1978 after being appointed a Billboard reporting DJ. Our paths crossed alot over the years but we became closer friends around 2004. He had flattered me by attending some of the parties I played at over the last 3 to 4 years. Had lots of Pizza in his cramped apartment. I had the wonderful Honor of being asked to play at a memorial to honor Barry held at Cielo in NYC on September 18, 2008.
To assist in answering Petes Question, Barry was found in his apartment about 4 weeks after anyone had last heard from him. Barry,s sister told me that he probably passed during sleep. Barry had some medical problems as well as diabetes.[/img]
