Hi,

Did you listen to the two incredible mixes " Baia Degli Angeli by Daniel Baldelli " ? This disco sound is amazing. I don't know what kind of disco this is. I am currently looking for other mixes that sounds like these. Can you please help me find artists, compilations, mixes, DJs that have the same kind of disco feel ?

Thanks for your musical help.

Wakatou

Daniele Baldelli is the godfather of Italian Disco. I don't know if his partner DJ Mozart is still around but if you are looking for that kind of Cosmic vibes: Ray Mang and our very own Jussi (who is influenced by Baldelli, he won't deny that).

First heard of him in the early 80s....around '82. That was an incredible club he resided at.

Never heard anything but high praise for this mans music selection & spinning style. :)

Excellent. Thanks a lot for your answers.

Do you know where I could buy CDs or download mixes from Jussi Kantonen, DJ Mozart or the other artistes that you mentionned ?

Thanks again.

Say what - "buy CDS by Jussi Kantonen"? ".."and other ARTISTES you mentioned"? Oh, just walk into any store, mate :-) I wish... Joking aside, look at the members section, there's some of my stuff there. Ignore the classics mix, no Baldelli-style tracks there.
I'm not actually influenced by the great Man as such, having only discovered him a couple of years ago - I've been spinning for 30 years, on and off. Trust me, not many people outside Italy knew about him until the cds came out, an injustice if there ever was one. Baldelli's 70's sets like those heard on the double cd contain deep disco tunes more than direct space/electronic stuff, the style has a lot more to do with funkier grooves than cheesy euro 7-inchers and disco realeses by forgotten b-movie starlets. As for the recent sets, Baldelli uses quite a lot of contemporary tracks. The cosmic element contains the prog/Jean-Luc Ponty/Mahavishnu Orchestra/etc end of the spectrum which I for one would not feel competent enough to meddle with, I have zero understanding of rock. Many of the tracks in my current mixes, like The Farina Suite, are Baia classics, and that being so naturally influences djs like me to include them in our sets ( using original vinyls only, no re-pressings or new edits, serato or cds!!!) . The Baia classics are in-demand tunes, what dancers into the sound want to hear. So we play them of course.

Hello Jussi,

Thanks for your answer. it is great to hear from you. You are a very good DJ and you play the disco style I really like. Your Seduction Eurodisco mix is incredible. I have looked at the member section but could not find your mixes. Can you help me locate them ?

I live in Paris. Don't hesitate to let me know when you come and spin in the city. I'll be happy to dance to your tunes.

Cheers,

Wakatou

Wakatou - Glad you liked the Seduction stuff! Do check Miss Aicha's site for her upcoming parties in Paris for THE disco sound, she's having very good Parisian guests spinning with her. I played at the Nouveau Casino last summer, now the current economic climate makes it more difficult to get flown over. But who knows, maybe later? Contact Miss A.
