Good Bio!!!

To me that 'Confessions' album was a smash beginning to end.
It was not well recieved by the masses in the USA.
Only one of her singles from the LP barely made the Top 10 here in the states.
Around the world it was a different story, garnering 3 more top 10s.
It was rumored that USA radio had blacklisted the LP since she hardly got any radio play over here.
It might have factored into her decision to have her most recent LP produced by Timberland & The Neptunes, who specialize in pop/hip-hop hits.
It worked: The lead single from the LP, the Timberland produced "4 MINUTES" made the Top 5 for over 11 weeks!
This was her last LP for Warner Brothers as she decided not to renew her contract.

And furthermore......

In October 2007, Live Nation announced a new contract with pop singer Madonna throughout the next decade after leaving Warner Music and Warner Bros.. She will be the founding recording artist for the new music division Live Nation Artists, formerly Artist Nation.

This now means she will be able to tour Australia whereas before it was not deemed profitable enough to bring her stage show out here. :)

Her last "Girlie Show" tour downunder was in 1993. Her next performance here is slated for 02/03/09.

And this will be the future marketing of music.
U-2 as well as Jay-Z have signed with Live Nation also.
Jay-Z has signed a 5 album 10 year multi-million dollar agreement.

They all know that artists will not make a profit margin with CD & Digital music releases anymore. The Internet took care of that.
Now live concerts is where the money is at.
CDs, digital downloads & videos will serve to promote the concert tour.

One by one you will see the demise of record companies as we have known it. It's already down to 5 majors,
(WEA, Universal, Sony/BMI, Island/Def Jam, & EMI) and with the worldwide economy it will probably be 3 within the next year.

Artists are already releasing their own music thru the internet.
Why use (& have to pay) a record company?

Madonna....smart business woman!!
Bono & Jay-Z also!!!!
