I love her music & style. Her track record is incredible. "I NEED A MAN" was one of her biggest CLUB records. Played it to death at Tropicalia! also: "THAT'S THE TROUBLE", "SORRY", "LA VIE EN ROSE", & "ON YOUR KNEES" are all classics which led to her crossover smash: "PULL UP TO THE BUMPER" I love the spare rhythm remixed version by Steven Stanley. ('B' side to the 12") also special mention to "I'M NOT PERFECT" produced by Nile Rodgers.('87)

Has Miss Jones sold her soul to the devil or something - there was a pictorial of her in Attitude magazine. Look at it, she does not look ANY older than she did during the 80's. Look closer, no traces of nip&tuck, either. And read the text! She never lost her fun outrageousness, she's still as witty as ever! I love her!

‘hurricane’ has been on repeat play over here…not just the track but the whole album.... I can’t resist the allure of this album, I just can’t.
I mean, this is an important album.
Not just ‘nice one Gracie, well done’, NO, ‘hurricane’ proves not only that Grace Jones has matured as a singer but also that she can produce a whole album by herself. With a little help of good friend Brian Eno, that is…
As she has proven before, Grace has the talent to surround herself with a remarkably qualified team of musicians and this time with Brian Eno…the man from Roxy Music and responsible for the major hits by U2 et al...
He's also credited for his production advisory role and his contribution as a musician for the album.
A brilliant choice that works wonders with an unique talent like Grace Jones, imo.
Sly & Robbie are in the band as well, as are French keyboardplayer Wally Badarou, Bruce Woolley from Camera Club new wave fame and surprisingly...UK triphop superstar Tricky as guest singer on the track ‘hurricane’.
Eno’s atmospheric soundscapes work extremely well with Grace’s growling voice like in the songs ‘cannibal’ or 'hurricane'. The doom reggea of 'devil in my life' is mesmerizing. The general production on Grace's vocals and background vocals is amazing, to say the least…
Especially attractive are the lyrics and the choice of new material with a clear reference to Grace’s earlier work like ‘la vie en rose’ and ‘private life’. Just listen to 'Well well well'....
But this new album is not just about looking back.
Musically it contains the most cleverly executed current
(and surely future) sound that defines great Pop music with strong Dance influences. Grace style...
I can’t wait for the club remixes....any good ones surely will be topping dj's playlists already.
‘Hurricane’ is a bomb. Amazing Grace….

Thank you thank you thank you for letting me have a chance to hear the new Grace.
She maintained a similar format to her latter work on the record but all in all, it is enjoyable but a tad bit understated. I always liked her more exotic sounds

Ok, I have to eat my words from my previous post. I burned the songs to disc and have been listening on repeat on my way to work each morning. I admit it, I am HOOKED!

Saw Miss Jones again in Stockholm 2 nights ago - and again, the sow was stunning ( though the volume of the sound was excruciating, thank god for earplugs). And I got up on stage to dance during the finale as confetti rained down! Claes, you should have been there!!!

Jussi,
Great to hear the Grace concert was great. I wish I could have been there, but was celebrating our wedding day, so I couldn't. Was the show as exceptional as Mrs. Jones' performances use to? Awesome to hear you were even on stage during the finale... Then I guess I couldn't have missed you if I would have been there... Bummer - let's hope she'll return again - SOON !

Grace Jones played here in Australia a couple of months ago. Saw her @ The Enmore Theatre here in Sydney & her performance was nothing short of spectacular. The sound & lighting & her various costimes were brilliant. She just seems to get better with age.
