I'm wondering who the vocalist is. I'm not sure if it's any of the members or not.

Five Letters is a French popgroup linking French Pop with Disco. Producer and label owner Cerrone signed them to Malligator Records in 1980. They blend strong dance grooves with sometimes silly melodies but always clever catchy vocals.
Main man is Claude Vallois, singer , keyboardplayer and arranger. Their biggest hit is 'got got money (and I moo)' released in 1980 also on Uniwave Canada. The strange but seductive track 'ma keen dawn' that same year followed up the success of 'got got money' . A string of 12" and a new album 'yellow nights' were coming out soon after.
The song 'you sky me' is the last I've een as a 12" release of the group. After that pages of their history are blank... their music is not forgotten however. Quality Disco with ze French touch...

A selected Discography

Thanks! :)

I haven't heard too much from them, but I love Crazy Man Part 1, and I've heard a few DJs play it sometimes. Ma Keen Dawn seems to be their greatest hit.

Djs like Jerry Bonham have spinned Got Got Money from day one in the states, where I also heard the tune getting play when it was realesed. The lp gained underground fame thru the years and now having been included in the Daniele Baldelli cd, Magnifico Mambo is considered a Baia Degli Angeli classic. As such, it's a must-have cult item overall. Musically, it's kinda mating between an Easy Going track and Café by DD Sound. There's a grooving and lightly latin instrumentation over thudding the c 130bpm beat, plus a male voice repeating the title lustily. - The other lps like Hysteries are not as instantly involving but not bad.

Great info guys, I'm impressed! My impression was also that they were very known in certain underground environsments, so it's nice to hear them still get some play today.

Crazy Man Part 1 being spun, it kicks in at about 50 seconds:

"Tha Kee Tha Tha" is 1st track on Strut's '08 compilation "Disco Italia" - its a winner! However that is all I know of them. Its a great compilation also love Kasso "Brazilian Dancer" , Number One Ensemble "Flor De Cocoa", DD Sound "Burning Love" and Kano "Now Baby Now". 8)
