Hello all today I received the very best of the Peter Jacques Band so I thought I would tell you what I thought of it. I discovered them through youtube and instantly loved Walking On Music (and its rare video!) and Counting On Love. These two songs made me confident I would like the best of them and...I think I was right! Fire Night Dance and Fly With The Wind are both exhilirating especially the former and remind me of Machos Im A Man and Cose Theres Music In The Air which is a good thing I find that sound exciting and I am aware of the connection. Welcome Back is a 'slower grower', I noticed it was co written by Luther Vandross I think I read somewhere Jacques Petrus wrote for Change? Is It It was a hit I think? but it doesn't do that much for me. I like Mighty Fine too. I don't generally get off on the mid eighties sound but I do like Going Dancing Down The Street. One song I heard on youtube that is not on there is Exotically which sucks cos its a top song. No sleeve notes :( Had a look at their website pretty interesting and very glam he was 'murdered by an assassin'. Can anyone tell me their experience with Peter Jacques if you like them or any info I may not know? All in all a good purchase.

Fly with The Wind is a cult item today, spinned mostly pitched all the way down for a more - here comes that word again watch out - cosmic feel. I'm going to program it this weekend, check out the results later at the members-only. Going to be a lot of classics this time as opposed to the usual spaced out obscurities.

Peter Jacques Band was a group I played lots of in Sydney clubs. Loved all the hits.
My personal favourite is a slower track called "The Louder" :D

Yes, great music! BUT!!! This guy , this man, was no nice guy. He was a sleazy producer, killed for being a bully!! You know his story?

Liked some of the Peter Jacques Band's tracks...
Jacques Fred Petrus was writing/producing for Change, never knew was killed though. Loved what he did with the early Change stuff !!!

Pete take note: you should write a screenplay of the Jacques Fred Petrus story. Shootouts and sleazy scenes of drug-fuelled orgies, all set to disco and italo sounds!

He was a bully eh? Disco scandal..tell me more! Sounds like an interesting set Jussik. Ah P flext I have been curious about the Aussie take on disco being a Queenslander I heard it was fairly dodgy in the capital with police corruption and the like but I have never been told about the disco scene. Although I did meet an interesting man who lived in Sydney in the 70s but all he could tell me was how much coke he did. His memory is a little hazy but he said he loved Boney M...lol

Hi Boogienights.
A local Brisbane publication just wrote an article on the history of dance music in Brisbane.
They actually credit World Expo '88 with kicking off the dance scene in Brisbane.
It makes me wonder what I was doing running a dance music store there from '85-'88 then. :?
In reality, the dance scene in Brisbane kicked off at least 10 years before that & I have been doing extensive research for the magazine so that they can re-write a 'roots" artuicle on how clubs developed in Brisbane.
It should be printed early next year as I'm still wishing to speak to a few 50-60 yr olds who ran them.
I'll let you know more as it comes to print. :)

Leroy Burgess sang lead on Fire Night Dance and the whole LP was great.

Honorable Mention - Macho - I'm A Man / LP
