Hi all,

The late, great Edwin Starr only had two disco hits in UK that i remember and they were CONTACT & H.A.P.P.Y R.A.D.I.O.

Can my disco brothers tell me if this was the case in the USA as well?

If not, could you tell me of any other release's that were classed as disco that he had in the USA.

Many Thanks!

Soul-Boy!-- Great addition. Edwin Starr had two really big hits, the same two that were big in the UK. CONTACT & H.A.P.P.Y RADIO which both rose to the top of the charts here. CONTACT was a staple in every disco in the United States, no-matter what type of club it was. I, personally played it constantly for about a year. I think that was it. He did not have any other DISCO hits. But, he was around before Disco. I know of at least one other huge hit. I think it was 1969, when he came out with a soulful protest song, against the Vietnam "WAR". That was the title of the song "WAR". Excellent song in it's own right. I expect there were more, but we will soon find out. Cool post, loved his music!

Mos def "Contact" & "Happy Radio" out here.

I pushed other Edwin Star 12" in my clubs out here & got good reactions to "The Rock"- "Get Up Whirlpool" - & "The Boop Boop Song". 8)

He also had quite a few nice ballads. "Upside Of Down" is one I remember I used to play for the smoochers. :)

Contact is one of my fav disco songs ever. Contact went to #6 in the Uk and #65 in the Us. Happy Radio went to #8 in the Uk and to #79 in the Us. Its Called The Rock is another disco classic from his Happy Radio album. I Just Wanna Do My Thing from 1977 is funky too. The Happy Radio video is on youtube! :D
