You are aware that Perez Prado was Cuban!! Something about that Island blood that gives one that extra touch of spice!! I wonder, the UK is an Island? Do you have that touch of spice as well?

Soul-Boy, I am sure you do have all that music in you. I have dated and lived with women from the UK. Loved every minute of it. While not as spicy as the Latin women(sometimes too much spice gets you a belly ache), they filled me up anyhow. They taste great! All those flavors swirling around in them, made for so good eating! LOL-

Guys, Chinese isn't bad either you know. It offers both the spice, and the sweetness. Ever hear of "Sweet and Sour"?

PETE'S NOTE:: Yeah, but I am always hungry for more an hour later!! LOL

Sister Power - "Gimme Back My Love Affair" Ocean/Ariola 1979 U.S.

Huge for me in '79. Don't think they had any other hits.

Anyone know who the vocalists in Sister Power were?

PETE'S NOTE:: Can't recall this at all? But I think I remember the jacket sleeve. Two blonde's in a blue background?

There is currently an accapella of Carl Douglas "Kung Fu Fighting" floating around now.

I'm just waiting for the mashup with Bonzaii. 8)

Paul,
Your namesake PAUL SABU, the talented producer, arranger, musican and label owner put together the group SISTER POWER to showcase the soulful voice of GWEN JONAE who was the lead vocalist and all the backing vocals came from SARAH KANE. The group had its only hit with "GIVE ME BACK MY LOVE AFFAIR" taken from there one and only LP.

GWEN JONAE went on to have a little sucess as a solo artist in the early 80's....Check out the single "DESTINY" - GWEN JONAE

Hope that helps Paul

Thanks Soul Boy. It's all coming back to me now.

Got the Gwen Jonae single of "Destiny" on Ariel records I think but never knew she was lead vocalist for Sabus' Sister Power group. 8)

Truly one hit wonders. :)

Hi Ed,

George McCrae might have been a one-hit wonder in the USA but he had a number of hits that made the TOP 40 in the UK.

June 1974 "ROCK YOUR BABY" Highest UK Chart Position - No. 1
Oct 1974 "I CAN'T LEAVE YOU ALONE" Highest UK Chart Position - No. 9
Dec 1974 "YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL" Highest UK Chart Position - No.23
March 1975 "SING A HAPPY SONG" Highest UK Chart Position - No.38
July 1975 "IT'S BE SO LONG" Highest UK Chart Position - No.4
Oct 1975 " I AIN'T LYING" Highest UK Chart Position - No.12
Jan 1976 "HONEY I" Highest UK Chart Position - No.33

As you can see from the above, GM was more than a one hit wonder in the UK. I think with "ROCK YOUR BABY", as it was such a global hit of epic prportions, people tend to forget his other songs!

SPILLER Feat. Sophie Ellis Bextor - "GROOVJET"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XpOVACW9Sg

This hit the No1 spot in the UK in 2000...played for a bout a year in the clubs before it hit the big time...A great retro feel to this little gem..Sadly for SPILLER this was there one hit wonder!
