I guess it's a matter of how to define the "Miami Sound", as I guess most of what came out of T.K. could be considered "Miami Disco" (at least)...

I've got a soft spot for Peter Brown and Jimmy "Bo" Horne...

Come on... "Dance With Me" and let's "Dance Across The Floor"... 8)

Disco-on !

The Miami Sound was what was referred to as the TK 12" and 7". Not Voyage or Boris, not even The Ritchie Family which were on Marlin Records that was distributed by TK. -- Here's another group you might have heard of

KC And The Sunshine Band!!

Hey you forgot the other SOTO Pete??- The one and only CELI BEE. Remember "Superman" and "Fly Me On The Wings Of Love". How about the soft and sexy "For The Love Of My Man"? Can't talk Miami without her.

The Miami Sound was everything that Disco was. Funky= George McCrae, KC, Anita Ward, Timmy Thomas..... Euro-Disco= Boris Midney, Voyage....
Latin=Celi Bee, Foxy, Amant, Rice & Beans Orchestra.....

Bottom Line, The Miami Sound was always on the front line, right from the start. Even before there was Disco, there was a Latin/soul/rock fusion sound that was being played by bands in Miami night spots. Just think about our stars. Phyllis Hyman, Ish Ledesma, Gloria Estefan even Harold Melvin & the Bluenotes had a start here in the late 60's, early 70's. They played the 79th street Strip in North Bay Village before they were on Philly International Records. The Miami Sound eventually became everyone's sound!

Those are all very valid points. Miami was right there at the beginning of Disco. And all you wrote is true. But it is one hell of a statement! And everyone left out a few!!
