This has to be the best club of all time! And I never been there, guess I missed it, because it is History now! And it is all that History that made it great. 75 years of party! The artists and acts that played there are unparalleled anywhere. It must have been an honor working there. Then add the mystique of all those mobsters. Great club. I am sure! I feel sad, mad and disappointed that I never went there.

Alright, I read that Barry Manilow did "extensive research" before release of his song. How often was that song played there? Every night, I presume. Once, twice? More?

How often was it played?? That always depended on the crowd, the night, the TIPS!! At least twice every night, that is for sure. I believe that durring the early days of the song, I played it as often as I could, one night, maybe 8-9 times! LAUGH, but how many DISCOS had their own song??? I got a question for PINKY, did you ever play that song at IPANEMA? BTW, PINKY used to play it he told me!

Now I really never knew the history of this club, I always heard about it, but did not realize it's incredible background fully. Great read guys. I am totally impressed, and I can easily picture Pete remixing away, and coming out of the booth to kick some idiot's ass! Sounds like a match made in heaven(wasn't that a song). Thanks

New York, NY 10001/phone (212) 239-2672

Question - Do you kow if the new place is gonna uphold the tradition of the original club or is it gonna go for a totally new concept...is it gonna be solely a nightclub....or is it gonna be a place where you get something to eat and watch live entertainment.

...on another note.....when you worked there Pete....which nights did you work?....did you share your nights with other djs?....did you have themed nights?.....what was the average Dj getting paid at the Copa?....was there any rivalry or animosity among'st fellow dj's at the Copa....was this the best club you worked in?...if so, why....was it because you had freedom as an artist?....was it the atmosphere?.....was it the clientelle?

...that will do for now.....to be continued!

If you know who John Belushi, was, you'll love this. In 1976, he was at the club, being his usual funny self. After an 8 ball, some Kamikazi's and a shot of Vodka. He was on a roll!. Grabs a chick on the dance floor and does, get this, the CURLEY SHUFFLE, like right out of a three stooges mini-film. Had me, all the Pisanos rolling. He was too much!

What was the best act that you had the club during your time there and did your orchestra perform there on a regular basis?

Sammy D....man I would have paid good money to have seen him..the ultimate song & dance man....have you managed to keep in touch with some of the performers that you met back then. What about the members of Je Ta'ime..did you stay in contact with any of them? any of them make a living in the music industry?
