DISCOQUEER, Saturday August 9th 2008 at Nouveau Casino, Paris - Djs Aicha (Afro-Latin-US-Euro), Lemmings (Laserdance, Italo, 80's boogie) and Jussi Kantonen (Eurosleaze, Tokyo Disco Decadence, Boudoir Beats) midnight until dawn

Inspired By African Voodoo, The future sound of Analog Munich, The Iron Flesh of the Rising Dragon fetish club of Tokyo and the classic Disco Sensibilty of Le Palace of Paris 3 djs will combine their efforts to orchestrate a glamorous symphonic- electronic soundtrack to your Life at it's Most Luxurious.

No cds, no re-edits, no popular classics, no deep disco classics, no classics of any kind, absolutely no madonna, no abba, just brilliant rare outrageous 70's and early 80's dance music played thru a massive sound system. It's NOUVEAU CASINO, nuff said!:-)

Will do, if the management agrees to us recording the gig - I'm not sure if it's allowed. Some venues I've done absolutely forbid it. We're spinning vinyls only so there'll be no visible extra equipment on stage, as and I'll be a guest I can't myself go and plug anything into the mixer. But, I'll certainly be spinning stuff like Berry Lipman: Cosmic Dance, Riz Ortolani: Corpo di Ragassa, Eiko Schuri: Samurai Nippon, Crazy Colours Orchestra: Babe, Giorgio Farina: Farina Suite, Cerrone: Strip Tease etc.

Well... it got so crowded that it was very difficult for people to actually dance. I did the first 2 hours playing midtempo-to-full-speed-ahead stuff, then Miss Aicha presented her grand Hostess set. At one point, she threw on "Missa Disco" and dashed foward arms open wide, kneeled on the edge of the stage, prayed, made signs of the cross and rolled around like possessed by the demon Pazuzu. After her no holds barred unholy euro offerings dj Lemmings spinned electronic/cosmic/italo stuff. As a finale, we all came back for quick turns near curtain time at 6 in the morning. I slapped on some porno disco. Not much left of my hearing when I got to my hotel. At least I was not whipped on stage like I was last year during my set, this time I did not hand my belt over to Aicha. Hmmm..maybe I should have? Pics at www.discoqueer.com

My tunes were f.ex. B-side of Introdisco pitched all the way up, Glen Curtis Need your Love dub, the Unidisc medley of Soul ChaCha/Soul Limbo/Funky Nassau, Kasso, Disco Clone by Cristina, some Japanese tracks like Hop Step Jump by Hideki Saijo, Crazy Boom Sisters, Zoom (Space patrol), Rosa Fumetto, Farina Suite by Giorgio Farina, Gus Kamaras, Sexy Safari, Primitive Desire by Eastbound Expressway, Beckie Bell pitched down, and Disco Droids and The Androids: Dream Machine of course as we always must do that don't we, this time I laid some Yma Sumac over the break. Things like that, mostly Euro.

Now, what about New York - anyone from that town? Do you think one could spin some unashamed euro records in NYC and not get shot? Is there a market for something like Pretty Maid Company, say in October?

Post subject:  So

Did you get to record any of it? Sounds like you had a great time. As for New York? There are enough Europeans living in The city, that if you had an event there, you would probably sell it out! I also think if you had it in Miami you would pack the house.

Miami..hmmmm...having never been down there that starts to feel like something I could do. I'll see if I can find sponsors etc.

Yes, some of the segments were recorded but much of mine got distorted due to my recklessness with the volume - a bit more bass, a bit more highs, some more midrange, more bass! It'll be up though soonish at www.discoqueer.com

I did a gig with much of the same vinyls not having time to choose another selection. This got recorded in full. If you send your postal address to jussi.kantonen@ark-kantonen.net I'll burn you a copy.
