Hi guys, I am in the process of getting as many Personal Favorite Top Fifty Songs from the disco era, 1972-1987, as I can. I want everyone to give me their personal Top Fifty Lists. I will assign a point value to each number. Then when I have all the lists together, Jay, my accountant, and I, will tabulate the lists, and determine a Top Fifty, that won't be accurate, but will be scientific.
Here is my personal list of my Favorite Songs Of The Era.
I did this today, tomorrow, it could change. But not the top ten for sure. I am limiting it to 50 songs only, which is pretty hard to do. Now, remember, this is my personal list. My favorites, not yours. For that, just add on to the thread your 50. Hey, I did it, you can too!

Hard call...
Sure needs some thinking...
Top 50 (better than a Top 10 at least - since one is able to get some more tracks on the list) :D

"I'll be back" (as the Californian Governor would have said)...

The way stuff is now I won't even have time to tabulate any lists.

I've got 2 DJ gigs to prepare for (one this sunday) , my regular job, my daily NA Meeting activity, and having time for my family.
All this priority stuff does not fit into a 24 hr day.

Thanks for 'volunteering' me Pete, I know how to do that stuff and I do have the point formula to use, especially in a Top 50 (I'll send it to you, all you need is a calculator); but as for the accounting, that will have to be left to someone that has time in the day for it.

Over a month has gone by, no-one, not one list. Is it personal? Hell, I thought you all said it was all about the music. If that is true, where is your personal Top Fifty Songs List. I have over two dozen lists, would like to hear from you all before I tabulate all the lists together. Come on, help me out. I would love to have as many as possible. Thanks.

Damn Mikey, we DO have alot of songs in common; 12 by my count + more that is in my Top 100. (at least 8 more).
THAT'S SO COOL!!!!
OUT OF THE THOUSANDS OF TITLES WE DIG!!!

I thought "EARTHQUAKE" would be higher and I'm surprised "SOMEBODY ELSE'S GUY" is so high on your chart!

We both have Double Exposure & First Choice in the Top 10.
(and Jocelyn/Inner Life was close on mine at #14)

And where is Fantastic Aleems/Leroy Burgess on your chart?
#51 ?? lol

For me, it nearly an impossible task to lay down your top fifty tracks!
As you know Jay, your top 50 is gonna change from day to day, never mind from week to week..There is about another 20 tracks that are in your your top 50 that would be in my next 50....there is so much other great stuff that I could not squeeze in, no place for the likes of Shalamar, Peoples Choice, Players Association, Thelma Huston and even Bunny!....As for Jocelyn and Somebody Else's Guy..you got to remember that you have ten years on me bro, so this was a pivitol soul/funk record in my life whereas you were probaly diggin' all that new wave/romantic shit that was coming out of the UK at the time...Lol

Get Patty-Ann to post her Top 50!

Thanks guys!
Patty-Ann feels the same--She is gonna get down & post her list soon.
She was not in the DJ culture and only knows from what she heard on the radio & what she hears from me!!!
She knows who Norman Harris & Earl Young is!
And that's more than most people know.
(probably from me ranting & raving all the time)

Hi guys, I was (and hopefully will be again) a DJ (radio and club), and I held some parties where I played disco. Some years ago, those "retro" parties were very common, many cities and many clubs had them (in my country, but I believe elsewhere also). What made me unique among all other DJs are two things: 1) I played ONLY ORIGINAL disco tunes, I hate modern remixes; 2) I really love and know disco and unlike other DJs I have a genuine interest in disco. So, I had a chance to play some of my most beloved songs, and in most of the cases crowd loved them! Here's my TOP 50. I left out many songs which I equally love in order to have more artists represented.
