Maaaaaaannnnnn!!!!!

Me & my mentor Paul Solari used to argue in my first year spinning all the time about "Me & Baby Brother"!!!!

He was a DJ that would play all 'HUSTLE' records all night long.
The crowd loved it---I was a witness.
He would not get funky at all---MAYBE he would play "Queen Of Clubs", Osibisa, or JB's "Give It Up (Clap Your Hands)" but that's it.

When I started spinning with him and then got in a whole night 'on my own', I would play a funky set after 2:30am. People were screaming with delite!!!
Wilson Pickett's "Don't Knock My Love" into "Funky Nassau" into WAR's "Me & Baby Brother" was an everynighter for a while.

Paul would run to the booth, "Jay, What the hell are you doing??? You can't play this stuff here!!!! You are gonna ruin the club with this Me & Baby Brother crap!! You can play that stuff at home, not here!!!"

The crowd loved it--he soon relented, but it took awile to turn him around!!!
Lots of times the student can teach the teacher!!!

It was the same situation with me and my house crowd back in the late 80's Jay!!!
After a night full of Todd Terry,Inner City,Morales and Chicago jackin' trax mixed also with Matronix,Pasadenas and Soul II Soul,I always closed the night with some soul classics like Lyn Collin's ''Think'',Johnny Taylor's ''Who's Makin' Love'' and War's "Me & Baby Brother"!!!!!
Everybody was on fire with these jams :D

That's easy Jay,Disco Gabriel has many CDs from original tapes of my live club sets from this period in very good quality. The only problem is that he did that ''tracking'' thing that makes easy to find any song in your CD player,so I have to throw the CD in Cool Edit program to fix it!!!!
I'll upload some sets very soon!!!!

Ahhh, I know what you mean.
I do the tracking thing also on my mixed CDs.
It makes it harder to post a set straight thru.

And I am looking forward to those original sets!!!!

(Email me more about 'Cool Edit')!

Jay I am tryin to find what's the best program to fix this thing with ''tracking''!!!!
I believe that 'till Monday I'll find the solution for this 8)
Now about the guy with the moustache at my old avatar :D :D :D That is rare picture of Jim Burgess back in 1979,Michael!!!
I always have a great respect for the first generation Disco DJs,specially for these that have real mix skills like Jim Burgess,Walter Gibbons,Lou DiVito,Kenny Jason,Farley Keith,Tom Savarese,Bobby Viteritti,Jay Negron - not just a compliment, your 1979 mix tape with the double copy of Kool and the Gang's ''Ladies Night'' is ACE!!!
I love the Burgess style of mixing, his four hours mix set at the last night of Saint NYC is a masterpiece!!!
My good friend Disco Gabriel has a lot of my old stuff so the next days I will upload some of my old sets!!!!
Let's play some more War classics!!!!

War - ''The World Is A Ghetto'' - Special Disco Version

The only 'long' solution regarding the tracking I have come up with is to re-record the whole CD straight thru with 'no clicks'.

I have to do that anytime I post an old set like that.

Yes, I remember that set very well--the Tropicalia days!!!
Thanks George!!!

I love WAR!!!!!!
