This is Chulo's page. Here he is going to put up a Happy-Hour song to get us from the SONG OFF THE DAY to the SONG OF THE NIGHT. this is what he gives us first. :Baby Talk" by Alisha, which, I believe, was remixed by our own Ray "PINK" Velazquez. Of course. I loved this song, played it religiously!

But Chulo, got say a few words about it, introduce it better. No problem, it is your first one. You'll get the feel to it. Just tell us what you know, or remember about the song, EVERY DAY, EVERY TIME you post a new Happy Hour song!!

You started good, this was a great song!!

"Baby Talk" by Alisha was released on the Vanguard label in 1985 & was originally produced by Mark S Berry & remixed by Shep Pettibone. :wink:

Loved this track Chulo....but I liked one of her lesser hits "Stargazing" more. :)

Good Song selection. Not too fast, but certainly with a solid grove! Good start Chulo!

Loved this Alisha track - used to mix it with Madonna's "Into the Groove". Was just perfect !!!
I also liked Alisha's "All Night Passion" - anyone remember that one ?!

Alisha was a greast artist, but dealing with her as a booking agent was a huge headache cause of her Mother!

TONIGHTS HAPPY HOUR SONG

NANCY MARTINEZ- FOR TONIGHT & ALSO KNOWN FOR HER OTHER BIG HIT- MOVE OUT

BIOGRAPHY

Best known for her Latin-flavored 1986 club hit "For Tonight," Nancy Martinez never became a major pop star in the U.S. but fared well in dance clubs in the 1980s. The big-voiced dance diva was born in the U.S. but spent most of her pre-adult life in Montreal, where she studied classical piano as a child before studying acting and singing in high school. Martinez's debut album, Lay It Down, was released in Canada in 1983, and "Excited" became the first single from that LP. The following year, Martinez's "Sunshine Reggae" single became a major hit in Canada -- its B-side was a cover of Edith Piaf's "La Vie en Rose." In 1986, the bilingual Martinez (who is fluent in both English and French) recorded "For Tonight" for the Canadian Sizzle label -- and the song came out in the U.S. when "Atlantic" picked it up. It was also in 1986 that "Atlantic" released "Martinez"'s Not Just The Girl Next Door, which was produced by Teneen Ali and was full of Latin-flavored dance grooves. The album enjoyed a lot of attention from club DJs, but unfortunately, Martinez didn't record any more albums for Atlantic. ~ Alex Henderson, All Music Guide

This is a very good pair of songs. I love her classic 80's style, fashion, hair!! She is actually very cute & attractive. A true "mamita". I wonder does she "habla espanol"?

Song was nice, but it copied lots of other songs of that time;
but that's what freestyle was all about.
Everybody copied everyone else;
as a result lots of these songs and artists sound the same.

PETE'S NOTE:: They also looked alike! She is a clone of The Cover Girls!

TONIGHT HAPPY HOUR SONG

CORY DAYE- POW WOW & BETTER KNOWN FOR HER WORK WITH DR. BUZZARD'S ORIGINAL SAVANNAH BAND.

BIOGRAPHY

With her light airy vocals, born April 25, 1952 in Bronx NY Cory Daye helped to transform Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band into one of the most exciting bands of the late-'70s disco era. Creating some of the earliest disco recordings, Daye and Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band skillfully mixed big band, swing, jump blues, Broadway tunes, and Caribbean influences into their infectious dance music.

Leaving Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band to pursue a solo career, Daye found immediate success. Fueled by a double-sided 12" hit single, "Green Light" and "Pow Wow," her debut solo album, Cory and Me, attained gold status.

Set back by the collapse of disco, Daye joined Kid Creole & the Coconuts in the early '80s, singing on their 1982 album, Tropical Gangsters, and appearing as a guest vocalist on their 1995 album, To Travel Sideways.

Resuming her solo career, Daye recorded a pair of 12" singles, "City Nights" b/w "Manhattan Cafes" in 1986 and "Middle of the Night in 1987. Since the early 2000s, she has worked with writer/producer Coati Mundi. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide

Chulo! That is a hell of a vocalist you have here! Cory Daye was one of those vocalists who went under the radar! All of her music, before and after DBOSB is high quality. He is one you missed!
