I got one here, this thread will get everyone involved, in a big way! There are thousands of songs we all love. But certain of them, have an "Emotional Attachment" to us all. Example, "You To Me Are Everything" by The Real Thing, reminds me of a certain female named Rose, who I chased in Jersey in 1977. Tried hard to get my paws on her, she played hard to get. A year later in Miami, after we both had moved here, she now was a Hustling Coke Whore!! What a waste! But "You To Me Are Everything" always brings back her memory. Another example; El Coco's,"Let's Get It Together" was such a big song for me at The Copacabana. I hear that today, I picture the couples dancing the HUSTLE. You get the idea. Tell us, the songs, and the emotional attachment with them. There must be thousands. I, personally, have at least a thousand! Can you guys open up? Let's see!!

while most of my family was knocking me for liking such music,he supported me.

PEACHES&HERBS WAS MY FIRST TRUE LOVES SONG.
HEATWAVE WAS ALWAYS THE NIGHT ENDER AT THE CLUB BACK IN THE DAYS. (TIME TO GRIND AND SHINE).

Champaign - "How 'Bout Us".
My first g/friend/fiancee/wife. This was our smoochie record.
She always got me to play it @ the end of the night. :wink:
I was the dj....she was a cocktail waitress.
She used to hate girls giving me a kiss on the cheek when I said yes to one of their requests for a song. :?
One night it must have upset her a little too much to see me getting a cheeky thankyou.
She went up to their table to deliver the drinks that those girls had ordered & slipped (on purpose) spilling sticky drinks all over them! :o Whenever I hear that track today it takes me back to those days of young love in discos.
I was only 20. :)

Yes mate.....typical Italian wedding. We even had our own band! I can remember them playing Joe Dolce "Shaddup A Your Face" & a lot of traditional old style stuff for the oldies. :twisted:

I lived with a Scottish lass in 1980-81. For her birthday, she gave herself a 2 day old Miniature White Poodle. We named him COTTON, for the obvious reasons. It was her dog, but COTTON was my dog. We were pals. So when she had enough of my shit, she split. So, everytime Soft Cell's hit song,"Always Something There To Remind Me" was played. Since she got the car, I, would sing,"ALWAYS COTTON THERE TO REMIND ME". Funny!!

Edwin Starr is a musical hero and legend to me. During the early 80's he moved to the UK and was constantly touring Europe from week to week until his untimely death from a heart-attack on April 2nd 2003..I followed this mans career closley all my life and he would amaze me that he would very seldom turn down the oppertunity to perform. He always believed that he was blessed with his career even though it was a roller coaster one at that and he had the philosophy that his talent should be shared amongst anybody that wanted to hear it. When I met the man on a couple of occasions, he would greet you with the warm'est smile that I have ever had the good fortune to see. It was so big, it would just radiate the whole room and give you a total comfort of being there. He would always accomodate his fans by giving them extra time with him. He loved to talk about the music and basically just shoot the shit with his fans. I have met a lot of stars in the music business over the years but none of them could hold a candle to the biggest STARR of all and that was EDWIN.
A song that all ways engulfs me in mixed emotions is a track that he released in 1969 called "25 MILES". This song is all about a guy travelling a distance to get back to his lady but when I hear it, it gives me emotions of happiness and sadness as I remember how this great man would always go the extra yard or mile to share his talent and bring joy to others.

A song I will always love and cherish;

EDWIN STARR - "25 MILES" (1969)
