I think there will be a clear split vote on these. I loved them all, but go with MOVE ON UP by Destination.

This was an easy one...
No doubt - "Move on up" by Destination
"Move on up" is one of my all-time favorites (specially the Curtis Mayfield version). It's actually my ringtone in my mobile/cell phone.

This is really funny, I pick STARLOVE. The different picks shows the popularity of all these great songs. I expect that this pattern will continue.

Move On Up- Destination is my pick. This song was so cool! I loved playing it, but it was a tough choice to make. These are all really great songs!

Always thought that Destination - "Move On Up" was a great cover version of Curtis Mayfield original, so thats my pick....
Mind you, the 8.52min version on the Curtis Lp is the bomb!..one of greatest instumental breaks layed down on wax!
Check it out!

PETE'S NOTE:: You can post that song and Curtis Mayfield under BEFORE DISCO thread too! You are so right. This song, the original, rocked big time. So did the cover.

Despite the fact that SOUL MAKOOSSA might be the first disco song, and that SUPERFLY brought SOUL music into everyone's home. I agree with Pete. FANTASY by EWF, rocks!!

Nope---not gonna ruin my Funkathon with a ballad!!
"SOUL MAKOSSA" - Manu Dibango - 12"
gets my vote - both hands down - not even a flinch!!

I remember many deejays playing this at any time of the night. And it was so soulful. But this is a persons personal choice. Well I too go with the incredible vocals of Phillip Bailey of Earth, Wind & Fire and FANTASY, which I would not consider a "ballad". I never saw anyone "Slow Dancing" to this. It was more of a spaced out- float your arms through the air as you are groovin', psychedelic trip tough FANTASY!
