Hey Guys, Not a lot of action here lately, but come on now - get your voice heard in this one... I got hooked when I heard some 80's stuff, so now I want you to answer TWO (2) questions in relation to these songs... First (as always) - Pick ONE favorite... Then - Which of the tracks was the most important one in your opinion (could be another than your 'pick one' choice)... OK - rules clear !? Here we go... Bomb The Bass - Beat Dishttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdHLn_iHTSsMARRS - Pump Up The Volumehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrtwCXeKsvgS'Express - Theme from S'Expresshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=netqBOtMy6wOK - Hit us with your thoughts... ALL OF YOU !!! // Discoguy

My choice is absolutely: "S-EXPRESS" with their sampling of "Crystal World", "Is It Love You're After" & Gil Scott-Heron's uno-dos-tres-quatro in the beginning.
As what was a more important song, I wasn't DJ-ing in the late 80s so I really don't know. I saw "Pump Up The Volume" mentioned more in those times so maybe that will be the one.

3 Djs'.......on the producer tip... Bomb The Bass - Beat Dis......DJ Tim Simenon MARRS - Pump Up The Volume......DJ C.J. Mackintosh S'Express - Theme from S'Express....DJ Mark Moore. I love all three.......they all have their good points. I think for total innovativeness (if that is indeed a word) I'd have to go with Marrs!

Wow didn't know that Paul.
I know DJ Tim Simenon from "BUFFALO STANCE" by Neneh Cherry.
And C.J. Mackintosh from Whitney's "QUEEN OF THE NIGHT" Remix and also from Guru's "TRUST ME" Remix!!!

Thanks guys for your input and selections... Nice to see Soul-Boy back again !! Now to my "pick one" and "most important"... My pick one: MARRSI have loved this track since I heard it the first time and it ALWAYS does it for me. Can't sit still and that pumping bass... Magic when played LOUD !!! My most important: S-ExpressI can still recall when hearing this the first time. I was in London entering the HMV (or was it Virgin...) store on Oxford Street and this came on "uno - dos...". Just blow me away and I bought it spot on. In my opinion this was one of the first tracks really using samples in a clever way and starting out the real sample frenzy. OK - you can always say things like G.M. Flash's "Wheels Of Steel" was kind of the first sample track, but not in the same way - it was more of a DJ mix, right?! So that's why I feel S-Express was most important... Still I think Bomb the Bass is an awesome track as well, and if not recalling wrong it was even released before S-Express... Be on the lookout for a new PICK ONE... If no one else feel up to the task !!! // Discoguy

Nice tracks all 3 but it's unanimous here with me & Patty-Ann voting for
YARBOROGH & PEOPLE's "DON'T STOP THE MUSIC"
Charme is nice but too mellow.
The Whispers track is played out for me and Patty. (too many plays BITD)

3 GREAT tracks there Soul-Boy... Hard choice (again)...
Sadly I have to get Luther Vandross of of the game. He has one the the greatest voices, but sadly the Charme version lack the 'edge' of the original. Just as Jay says, this one is a bit too mellow. But Luther's voice on the original - or even better - in a duet with Cheryl Lynn over the original TOTO track. WOW !!!
Now down to "just" two... the Whispers with their awesome intro... and Yarbrough & Peoples with their chipmunk or (what it seemed in the video) Muppets choir.
OK - my mind's made up...
the Whispers That's my pick... Love the intro and the happiness I feel when hearing that tune. Maybe it has something to do with pleasant memories of it being played when I was in language school in Torquay, UK. Bought the 7" there... Heard it played all over the town, in the Starbase disco, the Pavillion and the EF disco.
But I have to give a special mention to Y&P, it's a wonderful song and I like all the sounds and the bass lines in it. Can't help liking the chipmunk choir as well... "don't really wanna stop - noooooo!"
Thanks Soul-Boy for the trip down memory lane !!!
