Whoa Papi----Thank God I used to play at 'Pegasus' a black club from '80-'83. They did not like to stay at 128-130 BPMs all night. I had to stay mostly in the 110-116 range most of the night. It made for a nice change of pace, more creativity and I could play classics that they normally would have never heard. It was a small club on 2nd Ave & E.64th St. Ashford & Simpson (they lived next door), Barry (aka the Maestro) [RIP], & Phyllis Hyman [also RIP] used to frequent the place. (and bring me all their new projects)
They loved "Plane Love" there!!!!

Yeah, I remember PEGASUS. They had that Horse Head logo, was it Black and White? Yes I agree, that place would love PLANE LOVE. That was 25 years ago! Man you are OLD!!-- Talk about old!-- THE SOFTONES--"That Old Black Magic" I was grooving to that this morning. Early 1976, the 7" 45 rpm version. Later that year, the album version was over 6 minutes long. I burned that song out. Remember one by Bobby Caldwell, THE TOWN IS ROCKING or something like that. It was a 7" 45 rpm on a blue label? Maybe Marlin Records?

Didn't think that people would ever be interested in old classic DJ music---not to mention a web site dedicated to it. I started collecting music from 1968 with Archie Bell's "Tighten Up" and haven't stopped yet! R&B/Soul/Disco/Dance/Rhythm/Rap/Jazz---If it got a beat, then I can get down!

I don't have that song, but I think Bobby Caldwell was a jazz guitarist from the 80s. I'm not sure. You're right I am old. My computer brain doesn't click like it used to. To find out you can go to a site called: allmusic.com---They have a time line, a biography & a discography of almost everybody.

JJ,
Actually, Bobby Caldwell is from right here in Miami, he was best known and remembered for WHAT YOU WON'T DO FOR LOVE, which made him and Henry Stone a lot of $$$$$, The song I was talking about, was from the Album before that one, and it is called THE HOUSE IS ROCKING, and I think I was right, it was on MARLIN Label. You look around this site, and you will find a picture of his famous heart shaped 45 rpm, that was special issue of WHAT YOU WON'T DO FOR LOVE. I had that, but gave it to some fine female , she gave me some POOTANG!!

Jr.,
I like yesterdays songs better, ME, I just woke up an hour ago. Long night! Right now it is the warm-up mix from The Ranch House. Listening to "Super Strauss" by Joel Diamond. If you never heard this fabulous"mix" of classical music, you are missing out. After that comes Barry White, "Let The Music Play". One of his best songs. And it remains under-rated, it should have been a bigger hit then it was. When Barry greets people entering a Disco and says," WHAT'S GOING ON!" to someone! I was there, I saw him!! That is how 70's that is!! Great way to wake up. Had my Marlboro's, but no Bustello!!

I guess you could say they are new to me because I lost touch with Cerrone's career right after the disappointing album with Angelina as the only song I though was any good (Cerrone vi maybe?)
After Cerrone 4 and Je Suis Music , I thought he was losing his edge.
These seem to be mixes of tracks I never heard before. It's worth looking into for the old time disco feel with a modern twist that doesn't rob any of the disco flavor from them.
