Never heard a vocal, but on second thought, maybe in 76 or 77 there might have been a single 7" release, but I am not sure. In the mass of burned out brain cells, I sort of recall one. Best version IMO, JOHN DAVIS.

Am i right in saying that Ashford & Simpson did the arrangements for the John Davis version?

I do not think so. John Davis would arrange and conduct his MONSTER ORCHESTRA , so I assume that he did it BOURGIE BOURGIE too. BTW his Orchestra was one of the very BEST disco acts ever. I remember them AT THE COPA, in White Tuxedos looking so incredible, so traditional. Then the music would be nothing traditional at all. Many Latin American tourists and their friends would be expecting something else, and jump for joy and onto the dance floor when the disco came. I am one of John Davis' biggest fans. I think I played every song he ever released. Find yourself his NIGHT &DAY LP. It has his version of all the COLE PORTER hits. THAT REALLY ROCKS!! It is PURE old fashioned DISCO at it's best.

Thanks for the input on that one Pete and i will defo see if i can get my hands on the "Night & Day" LP you mentioned. My favourite version happens to be Jo Claussells Classic remix of Ashfords & Simpsons Bourgie Bourgie which happens to be on the album Ashford & Simpson - Hits, Remixes & Rarities. The Warner Bros Years. Are you familiar with either the remix or album. Many Thanks!

Truthfully, I do not BUY music. If they don't send it to me, I don't play it. But I have heard it. Keep an eye out for PM from me. Later.. Pete

The vocals on the "Bourgie Bourgie" track by John Davis are by Ashford, Simpson and John Davis. So there they are singing. If they released a vocal version under their own name. I'm not sure but there are rumors that a limited edition was released.

But... do the words 'bourgie bourgie' mean something. Or is it just a shout?

Yep, the best version is on the A&S CD: "Hits, Remixes & Rairities"

That CD is jam packed.
I love the Tom Moulton remix of "FOUND A CURE".
I've been talking up this CD all over this site.
A DJ's MUST HAVE!!!

PETE'S NOTE:: You Have!! LOL

Pete, you're right, it's something French. This is what the Urban Dictionary says:

"Someone who is class-conscious, with educated and discerning tastes, and interested in enjoying the finer things in life. It is definitely not high-class, aristoratic, snooty, or snobbish. “Bourgie” is as much an idea, and a state of mind, as it is an attitude towards enjoying good food, good friends, and good conversation, everyday. It evokes a mood of simple elegance, casual yet sophisticated—modern.
"Check out old girl in the Mercedes. Isn't she from 82nd and International (Oakland)? Oh I guess she's bourgie now!"

Starr, now that you mention it, I have heard that used in conversation years ago in New York. It became an American word meaning exactly what you said, only I always pronounced it wrong when I read the title, not giving it that FRENCH touch, but when you pronounce it in that French way, it is a word I am familiar with, meaning CLASSY! My Bad, I was too "Ghetto", forgot to interpret it the right way. Lets see if I can give you my way of the proper way to pronounce it,== BOOJEUSWAA BOOJEUSWAA-- I think I got it! I was reading it my whole life as == BOGEE BOGEE. So I was a complete idiot!!
