This is a new thread that will be very big here. I am sure of it!!-- Tell Me What Do You Think was The most Under-Rated Songs (or Artists) of The Disco generation???
I Have an answer to both parts of that question, A Song by An Artist!! They were big when it came out, but History doesn't do them the justice they deserve. My NOMINEE is,
POUZZEZ
"COME ON AND DO IT"
I loved that stuff!, It was a pleasure to remix all the cuts off that album, but in particular, COME ON AND DO IT was as big a DISCO song as anyone that ever existed. Tore the roof off the clubs, never crossed over. But it was incredibly huge!! But today, in conversation as to what the greatest songs of Disco are, it is no-where to be found!!

I used to play both Pouzzez & "Quiet Village" in deep regular rotation. Here is an underated jam--- "ALL MY LOVE"-by L.A.X. A Prelude 12" from '80 mixed by Francois K. That's the jam!

Playing a song is one thing, talking about it years later as a HUGE HIT is another. Few deejays would call COME ON AND DO IT one of the all-time greats from the Disco era. But we know it was. When asked THE BEST SONGS, few of these would make someones top 25! Right! ALL MY LOVE is one of those. There are literally hundreds like that. Great, but mostly forgotten!

I was sorry that France Joli's last album "Witch of Love" didn't go very far.
It was produced by Quincy Jones and was probably her best work in her post Tony Green days.
Now if Unidisc would only release the rest of her back catalog!

"catch me on the rebound" by loleatta holoway(gibbons mix) is even greater than "Love sensation" for me although it was never that famous (at least in Europe)
another favourite: "on the run" by colleen heather (also a gibbons mix)
"me and my music" by candi staton

I loved "CATCH ME ON THE REBOUND"-Loleatta Holloway----especially the Dub mix, 'B' side by Gibbons!!! It was never a Top 10 in NYC Main Clubs but it was an After Hour Standout! I've seen that song captivate the late-late crowd at Galaxy 21 more than once!!!

Underated and under appreciated by many, stayed in my TOP 10 for weeks:
"EVERYMAN" - Double Exposure - '76 - 'Gibbons Disco Blend' off their 1st album. That was my jam for so long. Not a great audience response except for After Hours Clubs.
It was sampled in '02 by British DJ Duo called M&M (not to be confused with US' Morales & Munzabi) on a song they called "IF YOU WANNA"---they also used Loleatta's scream from "Hit & Run" on the track.
Good stuff if U can find it!!!

Leroy Gomez had an album that I loved. On it, he had a Disco Version of SPANISH HARLEM. I loved it! So did many, but few deejays played it!

BABY COME AND GET IT by The Pointer Sisters in the mid-80's was one of those "under-rated" songs. I remember that every time it was played it had a fantastic reaction. But it never got Radio or chart action.

The year was 1986, local Miami group EROTIC EXOTIC, releases their first record,"Take Me As I Am" on a local label. I get my copy in advance, and I love it! I rave about it in THE VYNIL JUNKIE magazine. The record companies, take notice of my reviews and scramble to sign the act. ATLANTIC Records wins the battle. But the leadership of the group thinks too highly of themselves and are troublesome to the labels executives. ATLANTIC then does very little to promote the record. It goes largely un-noticed by most deejays. But, EVERYONE blew it! This could have been a monster JAM. Instead I get to call it an UNDER-RATED song!
