Lets get to a subject we all love, DISCO MUSIC, specifically the early years. A very simple question, that has two limitations. NOTHING AFTER 1977!! And no more then TEN per entry. Those are the only rules. QUESTION:" What Are Your Favorite Disco Songs"

I will get things started;

1) ZING Went The Strings Of My Heart-1972- THE TRAMMPS
2) DISCO, That's Where The Happy People Go-1976- THE TRAMMPS
3) You Make Me Feel Like Dancing-1976- Leo Sayer
4) You To Me Are Everything-1976- The Real Thing
5) You Should Be Dancing-1977- The Bee Gees
6) I'll Always Love My Mama-1973-The Intruders
7) Date With The Rain-1975- Eddie Kendricks
8) Brazil-1975- The Ritchie Family
9) Quiet Village-1977- The Ritchie Family
10) Zodiac-1976- Roberta Kelly

Now that is a very impressive TEN, can you top that one!!!

Pete !

Great subject and I wish I could tell...
As my favorites still keeps changing, but I'll try to get some of them down (no particular order - just 10 pre-78 Disco tracks I like or that has been special to me for any reason):

"T.S.O.P" - MFSB feat. the Three Degrees
"Lady Bump" - Penny McLean
"Dancing Queen" - ABBA
"Goin' Up In Smoke" - Eddie Kendricks
"This Is It" - Melba Moore
"Jam, Jam, Jam All Night Long" - People's Choice
"I Got A Thing" - Silver, Platinum & Gold
"Tailgate" - 21th Creation
"Lovin' Is Really My Game" - Brainstorm
"I Don't Want To Work Today" - New York Port Authority

Pete - since you already had "You Should Be Dancing" - Bee Gees in your list I left it out of mine...
But again, these were like the first tracks that came to mind and that has been special to me for whatever reason. If I would start over again with this list it might have looked differently as there's so many great tracks...
But it could just as well have been both Trammps, Chic, Diana Ross, Giorgio/Donna and Candi Staton and 10 other tracks on the list... ;-)

But I leave it as is (for now)...

You can write in some more simply by repeat visit and different lists. MAN, great picture, it looks like you!!! Here there are so, so many records and songs one can list. That is the idea!-- A few More

1) JUNGLE FEVER-1972- The Chakachas
2) VENUS-1976- Frankie Avalon
3) Swearin To God-1976- Frankie Valli

I Like "Lady Bump", Penny McClain toured New York for four weeks when it first was released, but the four weeks turned into half a year!! She was in high demand..

WOW. what a great first Album that was, "Get on the funk Train!!" It was so fresh, has to go down as one of the ALL-TIME GREATEST DISCO SONGS! When you get a chance, DISCOGUY has an article on them in this site I believe. I too remember THELMA HOUSTON's "Don't Leave Me This Way" like it was yesterday. That song tore up my dance floors. Then soon afterwards I discovered that Teddy Pendergrass and HAROLD MELVIN and The Blue Notes had also recorded that song. WOW!! I immediately started mixing them together, something I think every deejay was doing. Right MIXMACHINE?? Scott Blackwell told me that this is his all-time favorite song.

Did anyone ever play "Money" by Pink Floyd in the very early days? It had a "grove" to it. Before Disco music? How about BLUE SWEDE "Hooked On A Feeling", that song also had a certain flair to it. I personally played it more than once. was I alone(1972-73?). Any other 'Different" songs??- PETE
