This was one of the finest Inner-City clubs ever. Spectacular lighting and sound. Constantly full of energetic dancers. Had some great deejays through-out the years. Surprised it never got "Famous" like the City clubs. It had all the ingredients. Except it was too far west I guess.

"One Of The Finest Inner-City Clubs Ever"---Hey ED?? I thought you said you didn't do drugs!! Liar! You have to be on drugs to make such a bone-head comment. I remember when we went there. You got lucky that night, that is why you loved that club. Think back, there were problems with the deejays, there was more then one, and there was in-fighting. It showed in their mixing. There were five men for every woman. It looked like a GAY Club. But it wasn't Gay night! The light show was nothing special. Get with it, this club was alright, but for you, it was great. You never got lucky, so I understand that when you did, that memory over-rides all the other memories! But being real, it was a good club.

Hello Hippie! I bet you still remember the night that this incredibly Hot Chinita came over to you, and attempted to sweep YOU off your feet? It was 1981, I think. Well honey, that was me! So i am glad you are here! Enjoy yourself. Lets talk about the good-old days!

Thx U for the fond memories. Contrary to Pete's statement I have not been hiding. LOL. No No if you looked up my name in Google you would have found me years ago still Djing. And anyone with bad Zanzibar memories must be the one doing drugs. There was only 1 DJ per night so I'm guessing they got there clubs wrong or They hit Zanzibar in it's last days. LOL Sorry for you either way.

Pete life happened. LOL I have a 5 year old that keeps me busy (at my age) and wife that does just as much. Florida wasn't my idea as much as my wife's. She use to work in NY and went through 911 and the blackout (took her over 12 hours to get back to Newark) so after that she said you know what I'm not waiting for the next thing let's find a better place to live. She lived in Miami so she wanted to go back to Miami but I said no not with my son were moving somewhere a little more family oriented so we moved to the Orlando area. My son loves it and since I have a home studio I can work anywhere so it was a go. Now 3 years later going back up north to visit is great but I will put up with sunny days, clean air, Disney, Universal, Sea World as long as I have too. Hard work but somebodies gotta do it.

Hey Pato: I was laughing at your name under the Larry Levan thread but I meant no harm. LOL I just find a picture of a pato (duck) funny in my head. Glad you were there. Yeah I just discovered the site and already have had a dispute with Pete over LL so I guess I'm doing good. LOL.
Peace, Nene

I use to go to Zanz, back in it's hay day! Gerald T use to dj down stairs, until the main upper dance floor use to open, then we got a chance to enjoy a headline dj either Tony Humphries, or Tee Scott, the also had diffrent club acts perform, I got to see the NYC Peac Boys- do Don't Make Me Wait, and Aurra, do Checking You Out, too me Zanzibar was the greatest, I had a lot of fun there, from the late 70's till about 83 was the time I was going, it's nice to find a place where the club is remembered, there were 2 other clubs in the area, Club Sensation, and also The Cheetah Club, I am in another state now and I have been told The Lincoln Motel is no longer standing, they had pool parties at the club sometimes.
