I did a map search for 146 or 148 E 48th Street (and 49th Street), and guess what... 146/148 is just right around the corner off 3 Ave.
So I think I might be right about the actual number above the entrance.
And frankly, I have never understood the NYC way of addressing stores (and other places), like Phil's in 792 Third Ave - even tough it was probably located in 146/148 E 48th or 49th Street.
So I guess any Club location could have been 146/148 E 48th/49th Street (or the 792 Third Ave address).

Guys !

Just got a new lead on this "club" that shows a picture of Phil's Men's Shop...

According to the new information there was a Club next to Phil's on 160 East 48th Street - called 'Le Twinkie Zone'. There should have been another club in the same spot prior to 'Le Twinkie Zone', that club MIGHT have been called 'Reflections'.

Sadly we don't know the years 'Le Twinkie Zone' was in business, nor when the previous Club was.

Ring any bell for anyone?

'Reflections' absolutely rings a bell for me. One of my DJ associates from the past (David C.) went to audition there. He wanted to borrow my brand new "Genius Of Love" 12" for the audition. I told him "hell no, If you are good enough, you will be good enough with or without the Tom Tom Club record.

I wound up going with him; East 46 Street sounds right.
I always thought Le Twinkie Zone was a restaurant.

(PS David did NOT get the job; Tom Tom Club & all.)

OK Guys !

It seems like we have a match on the location of Phil's Men's Shop...
It seems to have been 148 East 48th Street. I have been able to find some pictures of the location and it's definitely IT... The funny thing is that it's still a Tailor in the location and the building itself seems to be a Hotel. Today the Hotel is called the Helmsley Middletowne, but I don't know if that was also the name back in the mid/late 70's?? Another question is if there might have been a Club inside the Hotel??

The guys who remembered the address also recalled the name of the Club he used to work for. The name was 'Directoire' and that later became 'Le Twinkie Zone'. But these Clubs were located in the next building (towards 3rd Ave) and not in the Phil's and Hotel building. So the question is if Albert Goldman took a photo of the "wrong location" or???

The guy also recalles that 'Reflections' was some blocks away from this location. So 'Reflections' is sadly not correct.

OK - here are some pictures for you to see that we finally got the location right at least...

FINALLY !!! Years of search for an address is over... Now it's 'just' a matter of getting a name of that Club!

Sorry for the late reply. i did not know this site existed.
I use to go to as disco club on 48th St on the eastside between 1st + 2nd ave ? called the "Townhouse 48" it had at least 4 small floors.. Wonder if this is the missing club name.

Shout out to Pete Denis from "class of 1975 Union Hill HS" LOL
