Parallel Bar at the Bodyworks, Bakery Centre
5701 Sunset Dr., South Miami, Florida

Owners: Jeff Marks and Mark Golob
Resident DJ: DJ Ciro Llerena (one of them, but no doubt the best one)

The place was a great babe hang out, but a bit odd. The club was also a fitness center "Body Works". The building was a large shopping and dining type mall that was dubbed "The Bakery Center" because the original building at that location was a bakery. When the club would wind down they would close in sliding glass doors and you would be able to see the workout equipment. The club also had what could only be called bleacher seating just below the DJ booth. The club had problems with the City of South Miami, the ATF and DEA, thus leading to it's demise. The entire shopping center was
later demolished and a new bigger mall was built but without a night club. While it existed, big time acts played on weekends. Linda Clifford was there opening night. Chaka Khan, Ashford and Simpson and EXPOSE were some of the acts that appeared there.

I remember going there on both Friday & Saturday night in consecutive weekends. It was close to my house. It was DEAD on Fridays, a few hundred people if that. On Saturdays a few more, but it never lived up to it's potential. It didn't matter who was the DeeJay. This wasn't CASANOVAS, and it wasn't the same Ciro. Or at least it wasn't his crowd. He couldn't make that club happen. Not sure anyone could!!
